The City of Red Deer says it is hearing from concerned citizens who have received text messages requesting payment for parking violations.

The City says it does not send text messages requesting payments of any kind, noting the messages are not from the City of Red Deer.

If you receive a fraudulent request for payment:

  • Do not click any links included in the message. Do not respond to the message.
  • Verify the ticket/charge by calling The City of Red Deer directly. Never use a number listed in the text message, as it will connect you with the fraudster posing as The City.
  • Report to the RCMP non-emergency line at 403-406-2200; and
  • Report to the Canadian Anti-fraud Centre at 1-888-495-8501, or online, even if a financial loss did not occur.
