Red Deer Polytechnic (RDP) is welcoming Rafael (Raf) Mohammed as the Dean of the Donald School of Business.
Mohammed brings more than 24 years of leadership experience in advanced technical training within the post-secondary sector.
“Red Deer Polytechnic represents a unique opportunity for me to serve alongside a team of dedicated and committed staff who are focused on learner-centred development, geared towards achieving academic excellence,” Mohammed said. “I am excited to contribute to RDP’s growth in post-secondary learning through the demonstrated success of the Donald School of Business.”
Mohammed recently served as Vice President at the NESC Technical Institute (NESC-TI), in Trinidad and Tobago.
In the role, he spearheaded innovative leadership strategies, driving a student-centered and industry-focused approach to training, and positioning NESC-TI as a premier training provider.
RDP has also partnered with NESC-TI to provide support for apprenticeship training for learners in Trinidad and Tobago.
“We are excited to extend a warm welcome to Mr. Mohammed as he joins our Polytechnic community,” said Lindsay Engel, Vice President, Academic and Student Success at Red Deer Polytechnic. “His extensive expertise will help to ensure that RDP’s programming within the Donald School of Business continues to grow and to meet the needs of our students and Alberta’s diverse workforce.”
The Donald School of Business houses industry-relevant programs focusing on business, continuing education, and corporate training.
Mohammed holds a master’s degree in human resources management with a specialization in training development from the University of the West Indies and has also completed the Advanced Management for Training program with a focus on Technical Competency Development at the ICON Institute in Aachen, Germany.
Recognizing the evolving needs of organizations in which he has worked, Mohammed expanded his expertise into Quality Management Systems, earning professional designations from the American Society for Quality (ASQ) in both Management of Organizational Excellence (CMQ/OE) and Certified Quality Engineering (CQE).
Mohammed will begin his new role, leading the Polytechnic’s Donald School of Business, starting on April 1.
