A newly recruited family doctor is practising in Red Deer.

Dr. Piriye Caleb is working out of Ebenezer Medical and Walk-in Clinic, and also providing long-term care, and child and adolescent mental health support.

Individuals needing a family doctor can call 403-346-1533 or visit ebenezarclinic.ca to arrange a meet-and-greet appointment.

“Family doctors are vital to the health of Alberta families and communities,” said Adriana LaGrange, Minister of Health and MLA for Red Deer-North. “Dr. Caleb is a welcome addition to Red Deer, and she is sure to be a great asset to our community.”

Twelve physicians now practise out of Ebenezer Medical and Walk-in Clinic.

Caleb received her medical education in India and Nigeria, and practised in Lloydminster before coming to Red Deer.

“Red Deer’s great location and beautiful scenery were what interested me in coming to the city,” said Caleb.

Her professional interests include preventive and curative care, and chronic disease management. In her free time, she enjoys reading fiction, music and dance.

“Red Deer is the third largest city in the best province in Canada,” said Jason Stephan, MLA for Red Deer-South. “It is good to see medical professionals coming to Red Deer to serve families and individuals in our wonderful community.”

Alberta Health Services (AHS) continues to recruit physicians across the Central Zone to meet community needs. AHS has physician resource planners who are dedicated to identifying and pursuing international and domestic physician recruitment opportunities. They work closely with various community partners and organizations, such as the Rural Health Professions Action Plan, and independent physician recruitment and retention committees.
