With a deep sense of sorrow and loss, our family announces the passing of Wayne Leon George Wiebe on January 3, 2025, at the age of 66.
Wayne was born on May 20, 1958, in Swift Current, Saskatchewan. He attended school at Ashley Park, O.M. Irwin, and graduated in 1976, from the Swift Current Comprehensive High School. In 1979, he married the love of his life, Lori, and they had two children, Melissa and Mitchell.
Wayne was always a hard worker. He worked for Sask Power and the Department of Highways before he purchased his first garbage truck and acquired a contract with the City of Swift Current for the downtown waste disposal. Shortly after this, Wayne joined with his father and brother to form Triways Waste Disposal and spent the next two decades providing waste disposal services for all Swift Current and surrounding areas.
Wayne enjoyed life to the fullest. He was well-loved by many and enjoyed spending his free time with friends and family. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, traveling, and spent many summers camping at Lac Pelletier with his closest friends. He was a member of FOE #1728 for 42 years.
Wayne and Lori moved to Leduc, Alberta in 2021 to be close to their children and grandchildren. In February 2024, he was diagnosed with cancer. He spent the next 11 months courageously battling for his life and continually beating the odds.
Sadly, Wayne passed away suddenly in his home just 20 days before he was scheduled to undergo a curative surgery to remove what little was left of the cancer.
Wayne is lovingly remembered by his beloved wife Lori (Friesen), his daughter Melissa (Salvador) Manzano, his grandchildren Amora and Solara Manzano, his son Mitch (Charles Mainville), the many pets that make up the family zoo, his brother Lloyd (Sheila) Wiebe, sister Fairlie (Lloyd) Walker, and Sisters-in-law Linda Friesen, Doreen (Bill) Wells, and Karen Stock, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Wayne was predeceased by his father Harry in 2020, his mother Susan in 2024, and his brother-in-law, Garry Friesen in 2008.
A celebration of life will be held at the Eagles Hall located at 1910 South Service Road E. in Swift Current on April 5, 2025, at 3:00pm
Family, friends and all who knew and loved him are invited to attend and celebrate Wayne’s life with us.
Wayne is deeply missed and will forever be in our hearts.
