The Portage Terriers won a penalty filled affair 4-1 on Tuesday night over the host Steinbach Pistons. The Terriers went 2/8 on the power play and were a perfect 1-1 on the penalty kill.

The Terriers have scored first in every game of the series so far and game three was no different. Nolan Nenow tipped in a goal in the first four minutes while driving to the net on the power play. Portage had two more power plays in the first period but couldn’t score again. 1-0 Terriers after one.

Shots were hard to come by for the Terriers in the first two games, but the script was flipped on Tuesday; Portage outshot Steinbach 11-3 in the second. The best play of the frame though was a save from Terrier goalie Mitchell Kathler. He made a huge diving glove save to rob a goal and keep it 1-0 Portage after 2.

Nenow scored his second of the night early in the third period tipping another goal on the power play. The Pistons started to show some life midway through the period when James Fuchs buried a rebound to make it 2-1. Before the crowd could get into it Dawson Madden scored on a 3 on 1 to put the Terriers up by two once more. Adam Belzil then added another for Portage four minutes later to seal the deal.

The Terriers are the first team to win on the road in the series and are now up two games to one. The Dogs are back on home ice Friday night at 7:30pm
