Whitecourt RCMP conducts an arrest in elderly assault investigation

On March 9, 2025, Whitecourt RCMP received a call regarding the assault of a 69-year-old female in a wheelchair, following a break and enter. Whitecourt RCMP responded and subsequently located and arrested the suspect.

As a result of the investigation, Dustin ‘‘Dusty’’ Swanson (43), a resident of Blue Ridge, Alta., was charged with:

• Assault with a weapon;
• Assault;
• Uttering threats;
• Break and enter to a residence; and
• Mischief under $5000 (x2).

Swanson was brought before a justice of the peace and originally remanded into custody. He has since been released on bail. His next appearance is scheduled on April 22, 2025, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Whitecourt.
