Alberta Health Services is reporting three confirmed cases of measles in Central Alberta and a total of 21 across the province as of Friday afternoon.

The northern region has the highest number of cases with nine. Edmonton is reporting four cases, Calgary has two, and there are three cases in the south.

All but one of the cases are in children under 18 years of age.

The best protection against measles is to ensure you are up to date with your immunizations.

If you think you or your child has been exposed to measles, and you are born in 1970 or later and are not fully immunized, call Health Link at 811 before visiting any healthcare provider, clinic, or hospital.
