The Red Deer U19A Rush ringette team won gold at the Western Canadian Championship, defeating Team Saskatchewan 3-1 in the final on March 29 in Langley, B.C. 

This marks the first time a Red Deer team has won gold at the Westerns.

The Rush went undefeated in the tournament, winning all four round-robin games. 

Red Deer defeated Fraser Valley 6-1 and Team Manitoba 6-3, while also beating Team BC 6-5 and Team Saskatchewan 5-4.

Offensively, Hadley Guenther led the tournament with six goals and four assists, while Ally George had seven goals and one assist. 

Goaltender Kacey Talsma posted a tournament-best 4.88 goals-against average with an .870 save percentage.
