Weyburn Police Service officers were doing stationary radar late Saturday afternoon when a man approached their patrol car and committed an indecent act. They were stationed on a public street near a traffic light. Deputy Police Chief Shane St. John says it demonstrated a disregard for police and for the public.
“Someone unfortunately has zero respect for authority, or for the public for that matter, and they did something pretty disgusting in front of the public and front of police and had to be taken into custody. He did put up a little bit of a resistance as well, was not happy with being arrested but cannot have that kind of behavior in public.”
When officers approached the man to arrest him, it was discovered he was heavily intoxicated.
“He was intoxicated by alcohol pretty severely but that still doesn't excuse any type of behavior like that.”
“You're an adult. You should know better than to act like a child - I should correct that. I don't think a child would act like that”
The man was held in custody and released once sober. He will appear in court at a later date.
