A local non-profit recently welcomed a familiar face into its ranks to take on a new role.

Amid preparations for a much-needed new and improved building, the Swift Current SPCA secured a new fundraising manager in a long-time supporter of the organization.

Kash Knight, fundraising manager for the Swift Current SPCA, highlighted that she's been working closely with the SPCA for a number of years prior to her employment, volunteering and fostering animals with varying medical conditions, even adopting several pets from the shelter.

"I love everything I've been doing so far, " she said. "It's a lot of social media work, which I have a ton of fun with, and the shelter staff are so amazing, so I'm excited to be working with them on a more regular basis."

Knight noted that she's been working to care for and rescue animals for nearly her whole life and was thrilled to accept the position when it was offered, seeing a long-term career ahead of her.

"I'm also really excited to be implementing new volunteer programming, that's something that I'm still working on and I'm going to be reaching out to other shelters and rescue groups to get a feel for some ideas," the new fundraising manager shared. "I really want to grow our volunteer base, and another thing I'm really excited about is just growing relationships with different members of the community."

Before working at the shelter, Knight volunteered with several other animal rescue groups in addition to spending two and a half years as a local reporter, working in the service industry, and more, adding to her diverse experience.

"I've been in the animal rescue world for over 20 years, so I definitely see it as something that will be a part of my life forever," she added.

Anyone interested in supporting the SPCA can stop by the shelter, give them a call, visit them on social media, or even get involved with their current Plant Fundraiser in partnership with Riverdene Garden Centre.
