Healthcare workers gathered again in front of the Cypress Regional Hospital in Swift Current yesterday for an information picket.
What has changed in the almost four months since the last SEIU-West information picket?
"Absolutely nothing," said Jessica Perrault, an LPN at Cypress Regional Hospital and Unit Chair at the hospital for SEIU-WEST.
She noted they've been almost two years without a collective bargaining agreement and have seen very little commitment from the province to even negotiate.
"We're still not hearing much," Perrault said. "With them only meeting between every four to six weeks, there is not a lot getting accomplished."
She noted this slow negotiation comes at the same time as healthcare workers struck deals in neighboring provinces.
"Manitoba got a great collective agreement ratified," Perrault said. "Alberta got a great collective agreement ratified. (Saskatchewan Association of Health Organizations) need to wake up and give us the money we deserve."
With no sign of negotiations even picking up steam, the union may examine their options.
"I think that our top officers have been looking at the Saskatchewan Employment Act and what the essential services language actually means," Perrault said. "I think that's probably our next step."
