We've got a series.
The Swift Current Broncos' 5-4 win last night puts them within a win of tying their first round WHL playoff series with the top-ranked Medicine Hat Tigers.
The Tigers lead the best-of-seven 2-1.
Connor Dale's dramatic goal late in the third period propelled the Broncos to a victory in almost a must-win game for the underdogs.
"It feels really good," Dale said on the public address post-game. "I think they had a tough time playing tonight here."
The goal was the first of Dale's WHL playoff career.
"I love that kid," Broncos Assistant Coach Zach Franko said of Dale during the Redhead Equipment Case IH Broncos Hockey post-game show on Country 94.1 FM. "He works every day. Today, we were doing a battle drill with all the guys who aren't playing, and he was part of it at the end of practice. He loves to play, he loves to be on the ice, and we're so glad to see him rewarded."
The win comes despite giving up at least four goals for the third time this series.
"Limit your turnovers," Franko said. "They're very dangerous no matter where they are on the ice. (Gavin) McKenna there could be a loose puck, and he doesn't even have it, but right away, there's a scoring chance. You've got to be aware when he's on the ice. He's not the only one. The list goes on of their team and how dynamic they are. We want to emphasize being crisp, keeping the puck out of the dangerous areas of our own zone, and making them go 200 feet."
While there is a lot of attention on the star players on the Tigers, the Broncos aren't getting lost in the hype.
"We believe in the guys in the room," Franko said. "They believe in themselves. When you instill that belief in your teammates, it's crazy what can happen."
According to scbroncos.com, just over 100 tickets remain for tonight's game.
You can hear it on Country 94.1 FM at 6:45 PM, with puck drop just after 7:00 PM at Innovation Plex.
