A standout Swift Current volleyball player is off to southern Ontario to continue her career at the post-secondary level.
Swift Current Sundog Simone Pinsonneault recently committed to Fanshawe College in London, Ontario.
Pinsonneault has made a name for herself as a talented volleyball player locally. Her hard work, dedication, and leadership on the court helped earn her the opportunity at the next level.
Pinsonneault's journey from Gravelbourg to a post-secondary athletic career is a testament to the power of perseverance, passion, and community support.
"Coming from a small town, it was tricky getting myself out there," she said. "I think playing club volleyball and being on team Sask and having a successful year with some great girls and good coaches helped me get those opportunities."
Her leadership skills and positive attitude were key aspects of her playing style. As a setter, she worked to keep her teammates calm, focused, and motivated.
"I think I'm a very passionate player, where I'm always trying to get all the girls hyped up and positive and working together," she said. "I try to bring as much energy as I can, making sure that everyone stays calm enough to take control on the court and just keep pushing forward."
Her decision to play volleyball post-secondary at Fanshawe College was influenced by the experiences of others who had previously played there.
"Watching and talking to lots of the girls that play for Fanshawe and have played there in the past, they've all have positive things to say," she said. "It kind of reminded me of the kind of environment that I have right now with playing with the Sundogs."
As she embarks on this new, exciting chapter of her life, Pinsonneault is eager to bring the same dedication and leadership to the Fanshawe Falcons as she did with the Sundogs.
Pinnsonneault will study psychology.
