The team, competing as Alberta’s top women’s squad, defeated Québec’s Jolianne Fortin 9-3 in Sunday’s final. The match ended after eight ends, with Team Plett scoring early and applying steady pressure to secure a decisive win. They stole four consecutive ends to jump ahead 5-0 and never trailed.

The win means Team Plett will now represent Canada at next season’s World Junior Curling Championships.

The lineup includes Carstairs skip Myla Plett, vice Alyssa Nedohin, second Chloe Fediuk, and lead Allie Iskiw, under the guidance of coaches David Nedohin and Blair Lenton of Airdrie. The roster has remained intact through multiple seasons, including a previous national title in 2023 and a fourth-place finish at the 2024 world juniors in Finland.

Their latest victory caps off a 9-1 national run, adding to Alberta’s record 12 national U20 women’s titles — the most of any province since the event began in 1971.

The team also made history as the first women’s rink to win back-to-back national U20 championships with the same full lineup.

On the men’s side, Nova Scotia’s Calan MacIsaac captured gold with a 7-2 win over New Brunswick. Both MacIsaac and Plett will wear the maple leaf in international competition next season.

The 2025 national championship was held at Summerside’s Gerard “Turk” Gallant Arena and the Silver Fox Entertainment Complex, with 11 days of competition drawing Canada’s top under-20 curlers.
