After some chilly winds swept through the southeast over the winter, the first month of spring brought some balmier temperatures to the southeast. That's the record for Environment Canada, which took a look at all the numbers they gathered over the month of March.

Meteorologist Stephen Berg talks about the temperatures we felt over the month.

"It was a couple of degrees above normal for the month of March, and Estevan got a little bit closer to the normal for along the Trans-Canada Highway."

Berg says that Saskatchewan was largely split between areas north and south of the Trans-Canada Highway, with areas to the north reporting temperatures colder than average over the month.

For precipitation, the Estevan area was lower than what was expected for March.

"Estevan was actually about half of or had about half of the precipitation of normal, had just shy of 10mm of equivalent precipitation. The normal is about 19mm."

Other areas around southern Saskatchewan were also dry, with Berg mentioning Swift Current had 25 per cent of its normal precipitation nd Regina reporting 40 per cent of normal precipitation.
