Wolf Creek Public Schools (WCPS) has announced the appointment of Ryan Birch as the new Principal of Alix M.A.C. School for the 2025/2026 school year.

Birch has been with Red Deer Catholic Regional Schools since 2002, serving in a variety of teaching and administrative positions.

Since 2016, he has held leadership roles at St. Francis of Assisi Middle School, École Secondaire Notre Dame High School, and most recently, St. Teresa of Avila School.

In each of these roles, he has led meaningful initiatives such as a Response to Intervention (RTI) program, innovative timetabling processes, a Professional Learning Community(PLC) structure, and a literacy intervention program.

"Ryan brings a wealth of experience and a proven commitment to student-centered leadership," said Sonja Dykslag, Assistant Superintendent of People Services. "His ability to foster collaboration, lead meaningful change, and build strong school cultures will be a tremendous asset to Alix M.A.C. School and to Wolf Creek Public Schools as a whole."

Across his 23 years in education, Birch has worked in schools with programs for students with special needs, gaining a reputation for building strong, positive relationships with students, families, and staff.

"I am honoured and excited to join the Alix M.A.C. School community," said Birch. "I look forward to working alongside staff, students, and families to continue building a school environment rooted in trust, growth, and collaboration. Together, we can help each student achieve their full potential."

Birch will assume the role of Principal at the start of the 2025/26 school year.
