The options to get moving and to get connected were aplenty at the Spring Active living fair that was held April 2 at the Lacombe Memorial Centre (LMC)
The free event allowed the public to explore what options are available in Lacombe to get kids or adults registered for active programs like swimming, football, dance and even cornhole; the fun game of tossing bean bags into holes.
There was also a strong presence of the local support and service groups that provide resources to Lacombe and the surrounding areas like FCSS Lacombe and the Boys and Girls Club.
Organizer Dani Ducross, executive director of the County of Lacombe Lifelong Learning Association, spoke about the importance of events like these: “This is about how you can get involved in Lacombe, get connected with other people, get connected with activities you like to do, get out of the house, meet new people, teach things, volunteer.”
It’s a way to feature the community, and as Ducross says, "Make a connection somewhere, find something new to do, find someone new to talk to, find something you didn’t know was in Lacombe or was available here."
The multiple tables at the event not only informed you about programs and services in Lacombe and the surrounding area, there were also games and activities to play and a highly tempting table of homemade goodies.
If you missed the spring event, you still have time to register for the programs, and the Active Living Fair will return for the fall edition, set for Wednesday, Sept. 10.
