The Bedrock Bowlers came out on top Sunday in their debut bowling tournament, hosting teams from the Foothills and Olds chapters.

The Bow Valley Special Olympics chapter's bowling team had the highest pins-over-average score of the day, clinching the home tournament's trophy.

Ethan Mawson had the men's high double score, Brock Jesse the men's high single, and Robert Paton, the men's most pins overage single.

Bedrock Bowlers coach Dwayne LaMontagne says the day was filled with impressive scores—and even more impressive spirit.

He says the Bow Valley Special Olympics bowling team started about a year before COVID-19.

"We've gone to a few tournaments, but this is the first one we've hosted, and all the athletes are super excited," says LaMontagne.

The celebration didn’t stop at the lanes. The teams capped off the event with a dinner and dance at the Cochrane Lions Events Centre.
