Educators in the Red Deer Public Schools (RDPS) division took part in a half day of professional development on April 4, focusing on strategies to enhance student learning.

The learning day at Hunting Hills High School featured more than 70 workshops and sessions designed for teachers, educational assistants, and office staff.

Topics included assessment, differentiation, early learning, inclusion, Indigenous education, wellness, office administration, technology, and more.

“Our staff are our greatest resource, and when we invest in their growth, we are ultimately investing in our students,” said Chad Erickson, Superintendent. “Our division-wide Professional Development Day was a great way to bring staff together to collaborate, learn, and strengthen the skills that help create a positive and engaging educational experience for all students.”

In addition to the learning day, the RDPS division also offers mentorship programs for new teachers, school leaders, and aspiring leaders.

“When our staff have the opportunity to connect, share ideas, and learn from experts in the field, it not only enhances their professional practice but also builds a strong sense of community within our division,” said Erickson. “That sense of teamwork benefits not just our staff but also our students, families, and community.”
