On Friday, Horse Creek Candy, Gifts & Chocolate Shoppe put up six custom-made lawn signs to promote their new location a few blocks further west on 1st Street W. in downtown Cochrane.
By Monday morning, all six signs had vanished.
"I put them up Friday morning. They were there Saturday night around 7 p.m. when my husband walked the street to make sure they were in good spots, and by Monday morning, they were gone," said owner Cherie Hill.
"Like, come on, guys, it's not funny. They took every one of them!"
While it may have been done as a prank, Hill said it’s no laughing matter for a small business. Signs like those cost hundreds of dollars to produce.
Though upset, Hill said she’s willing to let bygones be bygones — if the signs are returned.
"Bring them back, no questions asked, and there’ll be a candy reward," she said.
She confirmed the town did not remove the signs and has filed a complaint with the RCMP.
But really, she simply prefers to have them returned.
“If somebody knows where they are, please just bring them back.”
Horse Creek Candy & Gifts used to be located next to MacKay’s Ice Cream but has since relocated to Unit 103, 521 1st St. W., in the same plaza at the corner of 1st Street W. and 5th Avenue.
