Fresh Air Fitness has received a $25,000 boost from Kingston Midstream and Tundra Oil & Gas for the installation of a new pickleball court at Woodlawn Park.

“We are going to build the pickleball court on the other side of Cossette Field here, and hopefully we’re going to get on it and get them ready and up and going,” said Debby Knight.

Contractors have already been contacted for the project.

“We're going to work out some of the details and get going on it and get some people playing pickleball down here, because it’s a very popular, upcoming sport,” she said.

Due to a shortage of available courts in Estevan, Fresh Air Fitness had approached Woodlawn Park to assess whether a pickleball court installation would be feasible.

“We’re always looking at adding new things. We’ve got sponsors that want to help us out, so we want to make good use of the community wanting to help us out,” Knight added.

Fresh Air Fitness is also spearheading the creation of a disc golf course that will be set up at the park.

Kingston Midstream and Tundra Oil & Gas each contributed $12,500, with support from the Richardson Foundation.

“Grants are made to all the different organizations, volunteer organizations, and this is just an awesome project," said Brenda Orr, a representative from Tundra Oil & Gas. "All these volunteers put a lot of hours in, so they’re happy to support that.”
