Estevan police are investigating multiple incidents reported over a two-day span, including thefts, fraud, collisions and allegations of criminal harassment.
On April 7, police received a complaint of a theft from a vehicle parked in the central area of Estevan. The matter remains under investigation.
Estevan Police Service responded to a two-vehicle collision that resulted in one vehicle being towed from the scene. One driver was issued a ticket under the Traffic Safety Act for failing to make a safe lane change.
A hit-and-run collision was reported outside the Estevan Post Office. The matter remains under investigation.
Police responded to a report of an assault that, following investigation, was determined to be unfounded.
A fraud was reported in which an individual sent money to pay for travel plans. The individual was later emailed again and told they would need to send additional money to unlock the tickets. The matter remains under investigation.
The following day, police received a report of criminal harassment through social media posts. The matter is being investigated by EPS.
EPS also received a report of a theft of alcohol from a local retailer. Police located a 22-year-old man nearby who was seen in possession of the stolen items. He was arrested and charged with theft under $5,000 and for failing to comply with a probation order. The man was also charged in connection with the theft of a cellphone from a previous incident under investigation by police.
Police responded to a report of three individuals going through dumpsters and possibly smashing items in the downtown area during the night shift. Members located and spoke with the individuals, who were warned and sent on their way.
A complaint of criminal harassment through telephone contact was also reported and remains under investigation.
