Crash closes Hwy 1 west of Cochrane near Banff

A crash has shut down all westbound lanes of Highway 1 just east of Banff, causing significant traffic delays.

The collision occurred approximately 400 metres east of the TransAlta power substation, near the Banff Avenue exit.

Emergency crews are on scene, and traffic is being held at the site of the crash.

Drivers are advised to be prepared to stop and expect delays as the investigation and cleanup continue.

There is no word yet on injuries or when the highway will reopen.
