Ashley MacDonald is the Green Party of Canada's Member of Parliament (MP) candidate for the Red Deer riding.

Voters head to the polls on Monday, April 28, with advance voting taking place April 18 - 21.

CentralAlbertaOnline.com reached out for an interview with MacDonald but did not receive a response at the time of publication.

This is one installment of our Meet the Candidate series.

Below is the profile for MacDonald provided by the Green Party of Canada:

Ashley attended Red Deer College, studying Political Science and History. A former Oil Sands worker who left the industry in 2015, Ashley currently works with Red Deer’s vulnerable population as a Mental Health Worker. Ashley has years of experience working alongside people living with addictions and mental health concerns from his time in Victoria, B.C. working as an Outreach Worker with the city’s unhoused population, where he has seen far too many people die from the opioid crisis and feels it is time we took sensible and evidence-based approaches to countering this epidemic. Ashley sees the Green Party of Canada’s platform as a welcome counter to the Conservatives and Liberals agenda.

Ashley envisions a Canada where everyone’s voice counts and not just on election day.
A Canada that serves its people and not its corporate elite. We need a Canada with leaders that listen to our voices and our needs and not just those of the lobbyists and blockades. That is why Ashley is running for office with the Green Party of Canada.

Previously, Ashley ran provincially in 2023 for the Green Party of Alberta, coming in 3rd place and in the recent City Council by-election.

Ashley has previously volunteered with the Green Party of Alberta, serving, until recently, as their president and is Secretary of his local Union Chapter.

A proud Union member and citizen of this great city, Ashley is dedicated to seeing it, and Canada as a whole reaches its greatest potential.
