The Town of Cochrane is closing the northside crosswalk at the intersection of Highway 22 and Glenbow Drive/Quigley Drive starting Monday, April 14.
“This change prioritizes pedestrian safety to help keep everyone safe when crossing HWY 22,” said the Town in a Facebook post Friday.
Pedestrians who normally use the northside will be detoured to the south side of the intersection.
Drivers and pedestrians should prepare for changes to the signal system.
“Pedestrians at south crosswalk will receive an advanced walk signal,” noted the Town.

Traffic lights at the intersection will also have new timing.
“Lights at the intersection will be adjusted, giving drivers more time to reach the green light before it turns yellow.”

The changes are part of the ongoing Highway 1A and 22 interchange project.
The detour and signal adjustments will stay in place until the project is complete in fall 2025.
