Red Deer's annual street cleaning program is underway, with crews starting in roundabouts to clear out winter debris.

On April 14, sweeping operations shift to overnight clearing of medians and boulevards, from 6 p.m. to 4 a.m.

Once completed, daytime downtown and residential street sweeping will begin.

Be sure to give crews plenty of space and slow down around street-sweeping equipment.

Residential Street Sweeping

Streets are swept from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Watch for No Parking signs in your neighbourhood.

What you need to know

  • "No Parking" signs are placed on the streets a minimum of 12 hours before work begins. Vehicles left parked on signed streets will be ticketed and possibly towed.
  • All curb ramps, basketball hoops and other objects must be removed from City streets.
  • You can help by sweeping debris from the sidewalks in front of your house on to the road.
  • If your cart collection day is the same as your street sweeping day, put your carts out as you usually would
  • Be sure to stay a safe distance from sweepers, obey construction signs, and slow down when passing maintenance workers.
