Cochrane families are in for a splash of fun this Saturday as the SLS Centre brings back its popular EggaPOOLooza Easter Egg Hunt.

“It’s not your traditional Easter egg hunt where you go around looking for hidden eggs,” says Christian Leader, Marketing and Communications Coordinator with the SLS Centre. “We’ve actually turned it into a competition in our pool.”

Participants are divided into teams, either sticking with family members or being mixed with others for added excitement. Each team is assigned a specific egg colour to collect, and after 30 minutes of diving and scrambling in the water, the team with the most eggs takes home the win and bragging rights.

While the eggs themselves are empty, "just to keep the pool from getting too full of candy," Leader says prizes and fun come afterward during the wrap-up celebration.

The event promises to be as energetic as ever, with hundreds of eggs filling the pool.

“It is crazy. The pool is so full of it,” Leader laughs. And while he wouldn't give away any secrets, he teased that there may be “a special guest” making an appearance.

The event is not a drop-in and requires pre-registration. Families can sign up by visiting the SLS Centre events page. Each session lasts about 45 minutes, and there are four time slots, including an early sensory-friendly option.

“It’s just an awesome, super fun, lighthearted Easter event and families love it,” says Leader. “We’re happy to be doing it again this year.”

Registration is $5 per person, and the event is designed for all ages and swimming abilities.

And if you're wondering, yes, leftover eggs sometimes turn up long after the event.

“We’ll find them in random, weird places you wouldn’t expect... it’s almost as if there’s a bunny hiding them somewhere,” Leader jokes.
