Albertans now have a simpler way to report non-emergency crimes and concerns to the RCMP with the launch of a new province-wide phone number:

310-RCMP (7267)

No area code required. No long-distance charges. Available anywhere in Alberta.

This new number makes it easier for residents to report non-urgent matters without needing to know which local detachment to call, helping streamline police services and reduce unnecessary calls to 911.

What is a non-emergency?

A non-emergency is any situation that:

  • Doesn’t pose an immediate threat to life or safety

  • Has already happened (not in progress)

  • May not require police to attend in person, but still needs police involvement

Examples include:

  • Minor vehicle collisions

  • Property damage or theft under $5,000

  • Scams or fraud attempts (with no loss of money or information)

  • Lost property

  • Break-ins that have already occurred

The new line is designed to ensure police resources are used where they’re most needed, allowing emergency responders to focus on urgent, life-threatening calls.

“310-RCMP was created to eliminate confusion about which detachment to call for non-emergencies,” said Chris Spence, director of Alberta RCMP’s Operational Communications Centre. “It helps our officers focus on priority incidents while ensuring every report gets the attention it deserves.”

Other ways to report non-emergencies:

  • RCMP app: Download the Alberta RCMP app from Apple or Google Play

For emergencies, continue to dial 911.
