Residents of Rocky Mountain House are being advised that routine watermain flushing will take place on Wednesday, April 16 and Thursday, April 17.
This maintenance is part of the Town's efforts to ensure high-quality drinking water and to maintain the efficiency of the water distribution system. Watermain flushing involves running water at high speed through the pipes and discharging it through fire hydrants to clear out accumulated sediment and mineral deposits. These deposits can build up over time and affect both water quality and flow capacity.
During the flushing process, residents may notice temporary discolouration of their tap water. This is normal and not harmful. If discoloured water is observed, residents are encouraged to run their cold water tap (preferably in the bathtub) for about 10 minutes, or until the water runs clear.
Any disruption caused by the flushing should be brief. However, if water issues persist, residents are encouraged to reach out to the Town’s Engineering & Operations Department at 403-845-3220.
The Town is also reminding drivers to use caution around work areas and to give crews plenty of space to work safely.
This routine maintenance is a proactive step in ensuring a reliable and safe water supply for all residents.
