Three of five candidates for the revised Yellowhead federal riding are scheduled to appear at the Springbank election candidates forum, organized by the Springbank Community Association.
Liberal Michael Fark, NDP candidate Avni Soma and Conservative William Stevenson have all confirmed their attendance at the forum, set for Tuesday, April 22, at the Springbank Heritage Club, 244168 Range Road 33. The forum begins at 7 p.m.
Vicky Bayford of the People’s Party of Canada and Dale Heath of the Christian Heritage Party have not confirmed their attendance.
With boundary changes taking effect this election, Yellowhead has become a bit of a milk run — similar to the mid-1970s, when former prime minister Joe Clark was its representative.
The riding includes communities on the outskirts of Cochrane, including the summer villages of Ghost Lake and Waiparous and the village of Cremona. Banff, Canmore, Crossfield, Edson, Hinton, Rocky Mountain House, Caroline, Jasper, and communities as far north as Grande Cache, in the MD of Greenview, are in the Yellowhead riding.
