Lacombe City Council has approved the 2024 update to its Strategic Plan, reporting progress on several community priorities identified during the current term.
According to the city, 76 of 123 total items in the plan have been completed since 2022. That includes 17 completed in 2024, 33 in 2023 and 26 in 2022.
The plan update includes a breakdown of “Green High Priority” items identified by council during a 2024 prioritization workshop. Of the 14 high-priority projects, six were completed in 2024, two more are set for completion in 2025, and the remaining are ongoing.
"Council is pleased to receive the final Strategic Plan Update of the current term," Mayor Grant Creasey said. "This document is a testament to hours of work from City staff, our community partners and individuals all across our province. I am proud to say the majority of Council’s priorities (62%) were realized, with many more initiatives to be completed in the coming years.”
Completion rates by focus area include:
- Growing the Community – 62 per cent complete
- Managing the Community’s Resources – 55 per cent
- Supporting the Community – 66 per cent
- Building the Community – 64 per cent
Some high-priority items include advocating for an expansion of Lacombe Lodge, collaborating with the Downtown Area Redevelopment Committee, updating municipal and area structure plans to attract investment, building new fire and public works facilities, sustaining road maintenance funding, and expanding recreation and social programming through community partnerships.
