The southeast is seeing more showers come into the area this week, though some of that may end up falling as snow with temperatures plummeting. That begins later today, with a system just about to sweep into the area this evening.

Environment Canada Meteorologist Shannon Moodie talks about what we'll be seeing over the next couple of days.

"Today will still be quite mild, Estevan, looking at a high of 14 today, some kind of brisk Easterly winds, but this evening things are going to change. So you'll really see some cloud rolling in and then some precipitation this evening, looking at about 5 to 10mm of rain and about a low of 1. Could see some snow mixed with that rain overnight, headed into Tuesday morning."

While the rain will then taper off on Tuesday, Moodie says some of the chillier temperatures will stick around with about four degrees forecasted for tomorrow.

What does fall may be substantial, with more northern areas of the southeast possibly seeing even more frosty precipitation.

"It does look like it's going to bring steady amounts of rain and even snow to parts of Saskatchewan and into Manitoba. Estevan looks to stay as rain, could be mixed with some snow overnight and into Tuesday morning, but predominantly rain. As you go just a little bit north, like Moosomin and Yorkton, they're going to be seeing a pretty substantial amount of snow with this system."

Surfaces could possibly freeze over the next couple of days with such low overnight temperatures, so that combined with snowfall could make for dangerous highway conditions. Moodie encourages everyone to check for road conditions before they head out.

Another system is currently being forecast for the weekend as well, but Moodie says that as it's so far away, it could change before that system hits.
