Southwestern Saskatchewan was subject to gloomy conditions and rainy weather to wrap up the Easter long weekend.

In addition to cooler temperatures, the Swift Current area recorded around six millimetres of rain on Sunday.

Shannon Moodie, meteorologist with Environment and Climate Change Canada, shared that an unsettled weather pattern has been in play for the past couple of days.

"For today, we have a system that's moving just south of the border and bringing some precipitation in through southern Saskatchewan," she said. "That's going to linger through the day today, and we're looking at a slight risk of a thunderstorm through southwestern Saskatchewan."

Eastern parts of the province are in for the brunt of showers and more severe thunderstorms.

"Showers will continue through tonight and Tuesday," Moodie added. "It's not uncommon for thunderstorms with cooler temperatures, and it's just a slight risk for the southwest."

Folks heading out on the highway are encouraged to check Saskatchewan's Highway Hotline for updates on road conditions across the province.
