On Saturday, April 12, a total of $15,000 in grants were awarded to student artists in the Wolf Creek School Division, as well as to recipients of the Art Endowment Grant in Lacombe and Lacombe County. The awards were funded through the interest earned from investments in the Arts Endowment Fund, managed by the Community Foundation of Central Alberta.
The Student Art Award winners this year showcased remarkable talent across multiple categories. The recipients of the Jan Holoboff Jr. High School Art Award included Neve Grant, Monique Suzanne Lengyel, and Taylor Rettman, who were all recognized with Honourable Mentions.
The Charlie Donald Memorial Senior High School Art Award went to Kaylee Ask and Marlow Glover, with Honourable Mentions also awarded.
Kenny Tenbrinke and Isaac Rogers received the Bob Creurer Memorial Mixed Media Art Award and Honourable Mentions, presented by Lorraine Nelson-Creurer. Sebastien Donaldson was awarded the Three-Dimensional Art Award, while Isabella Abma and Jessie Pratt shared the Dustin Peers Memorial Drawing Award, presented by Betty Peers.
Taylor Rettman also received the prestigious Parallax Energy People’s Choice Award, presented by Darlene Graydon.
Additionally, Art Endowment Grants were presented to Addison Turney, Anya Delafield, Kaitlin Bishop, Mika Prins, and Tom Cameron, further supporting the growth of the arts in the region.
