Southeast College is celebrating a half-century of education and the furtherment of careers with their 50th anniversary career fair and open house at their Weyburn campus on April 30th. From 3:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. they’ll be linking up with potential employers, showcasing the college, and celebrating 50 years of knowledge and advancement. Jaycee Mantei, coordinator of student recruitment and engagement, talks about the help that an event like this can have in the community.
“The purpose and kind of goal of this event is to create a platform for prospective students and community members to connect with post-secondary institutions and local employers. We want to bring that community awareness of Southeast College and increased enrollment in all areas of our programming.”
They’ll be hosting a community barbeque during the event with free food and cupcakes for those attending and also hosting lab tours, giving potential students a first-hand look at the facilities. They're also opening a time capsule that they tucked away during their 40th anniversary and creating a new one. There are also giveaways during the event, so plenty of incentive to visit the multitude of vendors that Mantei says will help highlight the event.
“We're looking at having around 23 vendors, so lots of different education booths from Saskatchewan Polytechnic, University of Saskatchewan, University of Regina, schools from Alberta, Minot, Armed Forces and then lots of employers that are hiring as well.”
