Due to gaps in physician coverage, the emergency department (ED) at Rocky Mountain House Health Centre will be temporarily closed from 6 p.m. on April 27 until 7 a.m. on April 28. During this period, nursing staff will remain in the ED to assess patients who arrive at the facility. They will provide first aid if necessary and refer patients to alternate care facilities in surrounding communities.
In the case of a medical emergency, patients are advised to call 911 immediately. For non-emergency health-related concerns, residents can contact Health Link at 811, which is available 24/7. Those requiring non-urgent care are also encouraged to reach out to their family physician.
Other services at the health centre will remain unaffected by the temporary closure. Should locum coverage be secured to fill the physician gap, the ED will reopen earlier, and the community will be notified.
Alberta Health Services expresses appreciation for the support of nearby healthcare centres and medical staff, and thanks the community for their patience and understanding during this time.
