A woman from Maskwacis is dead and a man is in hospital after a head-on collision in northeastern Alberta.
St. Paul RCMP say the crash happened around 8 a.m. on Wednesday near the intersection of Highway 28 and Highway 36, just outside the hamlet of Ashmont, located about 35 kilometres northwest of St. Paul.
The 40-year-old woman from Maskwacis was pronounced dead at the scene. A man involved in the crash was airlifted to an Edmonton hospital with serious injuries.
The collision involved two trucks. Police say alcohol or drug impairment is not believed to have played a role in the incident.
An investigation is ongoing.
