With the snow melted and the heat from the sunshine now here, the parks in Humboldt will soon be busy with activity.
In the southeast corner of the city, work is almost complete to the upgrades at Bill Brecht Park.
Leisure Services Director Mike Ulriksen says one additional component will soon be installed.
He adds that some fencing work also needs to be done at the park.
The baseball diamonds at Bill Brecht should be busy in the spring and summer as Minor Ball will utilize the field for the U9 and U11 teams with a U11 tournament slated for the spring.
With construction completed for the dry pond project last fall, residents will have the chance to enjoy a new look Carl Schenn Park for a full season.
Centennial Park will be the focus for the parks department according to Ulriksen. He noted the outdoor rink and court space will be receiving court surfacing very soon.
Nets will be added to the courts to allow people the opportunity to play a few different sports including basketball, tennis and pickleball.
Ulriksen added that some general landscaping will take place at Centennial Park throughout the summer.
Also this summer, the parks department will be working with the SPCA on the off-leash dog park at their new location.
