Nearly 26,000 people in the Airdrie-Cochrane riding cast their ballots early ahead of Monday’s federal election.

Elections Canada reports that 25,833 voters took advantage of advance polls in the riding, part of a record-setting 7.3 million Canadians who voted early between April 18 and 21.

More than 270,000 Calgarians also turned out during the advance voting period.

These figures are still preliminary, according to Elections Canada.

Advance polls are now closed and the deadline to vote by mail has passed, but eligible voters can still cast their ballots on election day, Monday, April 28.

Polls will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Peak voting times are typically early in the morning and after 4 p.m., with the least busy period generally between noon and 4 p.m.
