The fourth annual Horse Expo Canada returns to Westerner Park this weekend, bringing Canada’s largest equine event to Central Alberta.

The Expo runs today until 7 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

With more than 20,000 attendees at last year’s event, organizers expect another high-energy weekend filled with clinics, competitions and family-friendly attractions.

The Expo caters to all levels of horse enthusiasts, from newcomers to seasoned professionals.

“People really love the trainer showdown, the colt starting, they really love the shopping clinics,” says Ryan Gordon, Executive Director of Horse Expo Canada.

This year’s event features the popular Trainer Showdown, with the finale taking place Sunday, April 27 at 4 p.m.

Attendees can also shop from more than 250 vendors, enjoy live music, watch a fashion show, get up close to horses, and learn about a wide range of equestrian disciplines.

New this year, parents can register online and leave their children with a professional babysitting service onsite.

“We're just trying to make it easier for people to come to the show and enjoy it, and maybe they need an hour without their kids,” says Gordon.

More information, including event schedules and registration, is available on the official Horse Expo Canada website.
