Categories

The Blackfalds RCMP Detachment responded to 138 calls for service during the week of April 15 to April 21, 2025. The calls included a variety of incidents ranging from thefts and break-ins to motor vehicle collisions and disturbances.

Key incidents reported during the week:

  • Assault and Disturbances: RCMP responded to an assault complaint in Blackfalds, but upon investigation, no assault was confirmed. In another case, a disturbance occurred at a residence, which was resolved peacefully with both parties agreeing to separate. The RCMP also mediated several disturbances throughout the week.

  • Thefts and Break-ins: Several thefts were reported, including a break-and-enter at a business in Blackfalds. RCMP are investigating these incidents.

  • Motor Vehicle Collisions: The RCMP attended nine motor vehicle collisions during the week, including one involving a motorcycle in Red Deer County. A breath sample from the driver resulted in a “Fail” reading, and the driver was issued an Immediate Roadside Suspension and transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

  • Impaired Driving and Suspensions: On April 18, a male was arrested for impaired operation of a motor vehicle and driving while suspended under an Immediate Roadside Suspension (IRS). He was later released on an Appearance Notice.

  • Grass Fire Incident: On April 19, emergency services were called to a grass fire in Red Deer County. Fortunately, no structures were damaged, and the fire was quickly extinguished.

  • Ongoing Investigations: The RCMP continue to investigate trespassing at a worksite in Red Deer County and are looking into the theft of stripped copper wire from a cemetery in Lacombe County.

The RCMP continue to encourage the public to report any suspicious activity and remain vigilant, especially with the dry and windy conditions that have led to fire advisories in the area.

For further details or to report an incident, residents are urged to contact the Blackfalds RCMP at 403-885-3333 or visit the official RCMP website.
