A 51-year-old man from Wynyard is facing multiple drug and weapon charges following a traffic stop in the community.  

On March 12 at approximately 2:00 am, Jason Wingert was arrested by Wynyard RCMP in relation to an ongoing investigation.  

During a search of the vehicle and following the arrest, police located and seized 132 grams of methamphetamine, 162 grams of marijuana, brass knuckles, identification that didn’t belong to the male, drug paraphernalia and 19 packs of unstamped tobacco.  

It was determined that the vehicle was stolen from Calgary. 

As a result, Wingert has been charged with: 

one count, possession for the purpose of trafficking- methamphetamine, Section 5(2) Controlled Drugs and Substances Act; 

one count, possession of a prohibited weapon, Section 92(2), Criminal Code; 

five counts, possession of forged documents, Section 368(1)(b), Criminal Code; 

one count, removing/altering a VIN number, Section 353.1(1), Criminal Code; 

one count, identity theft, section 402.2(1), Criminal Code; 

one count, possession of property obtained by crime over $5000, Section 354(1)(a), Criminal Code; 

one count, possession of cannabis to distribute, Section 9(2) of the Cannabis Act; 

one count, fail to comply with a probation order, Section 733.1(1) Criminal Code; and 

one count, possession of unstamped tobacco, section 11(2)(a) Tobacco Tax Act. 

Wingert is scheduled to appear in Wynyard Provincial Court on May 22, 2025.
