Both Conservative Party candidates have won their respective ridings in Central Alberta after Monday night's Federal Election.
Blaine Calkins, the incumbent Conservative Party candidate and current Member of Parliament has won the Ponoka-Didsbury riding.
Calkins won the election Monday with a large show of support from his constituents. He once again received popular support from the traditionally Conservative area of Central Alberta.
As of 10:11 pm with 201 of 216 polls reporting, Calkins was leading the election with 50,311 votes. This works out to be about 81.9% of the votes. The next closest candidate was New Democratic Party candidate Logan Hooley, who was second with 6,677 votes or just over 11% of the vote.
For the Ponoka-Didsbury riding, a good number of voters went to the polls. Out of 90,227 registered voters, 61,419 cast their ballots. It worked out to be just over 68% of potential voters.

In the Red Deer Riding, Burton Bailey was leading the election with 29,628 votes or about 71% of the vote. As of 10:11 pm there were 128 of 187 polls reporting.
The closest was Liberal candidate Ayaz Bangash, who received (as of 10:11 pm) 9,130 votes, or about 22% of the vote.
Turnout at the polls Monday was a bit low with just over 43 thousand of a potential 87,375 registered voters casting their ballots. That works out to be about 49.23% of voters showing up.
