Work has begun on the Bentley Recreational Field Project. Town of Bentley
Categories

Construction on the Bentley Recreational Field Project, has started today.

The field will be located to the North of 55th Ave and 46th Street on Town owned lands.

Work will initially include some tree clearing and earthworks undertaken by Lacombe County. Rough grading etc. will be undertaken by Lacombe County and finishing work and amenities will be tendered in the upcoming weeks, while this work is being undertaken.

This project was approved through the 2025 budget process, after extensive engagement with the community and Bentley Minor Soccer. Leading up to the project’s approval, the community was engaged through surveys, public information sessions, as well as formal changes to the Summersault Area Structure Plan (now referred to as the Sunset Heights Area Structure Plan).

On August 27, 2024, a new Area Structure Plan was brought to council for consideration, which included the recreational space as supported by the community. Additionally, a public hearing was held on September 24, 2024, to hear from local residents regarding the proposed changes to the new Sunset Heights Area Structure Plan. Following the public hearing, with no concerns being raised by local residents, Bylaw 249-2024 – Sunset Heights Area Structure Plan was given 3rd and final reading, setting the framework for the Bentley Recreational Field Project to move forward.

Residents are reminded that this will be a work site and that the safety of those undertaking the job, as well as those observing, must be maintained. Please ensure that you allow safe distance from workers, machinery and equipment, while the work is being undertaken.

For more information regarding the project, please feel free to contact the Town of Bentley Office at 403-748-4044.
