A great honour for a local wheelchair basketball player.

Swift Current's Hunter Berg helped Canada to a second-place finish at the U23 Americas Championship and qualification for the World Championship.

Berg took a lot from his experience at the event in Bogota, Colombia.

"It was a great experience being able to play with some different guys across the country and obviously the best U23 talent across the country," he said. "It was an honour to do it.

"It made me a better player learning from different people, learning from the coaching staff, it was just a great experience all-together."

Canada won their last game 55-54 over Brazil to secure a spot in the World Championship.

Berg is an alternate for that team and doesn't know if he will be traveling to the event yet.

He plays with Club 99 out of Saskatoon, where he attends school.
