Wetaskiwin RCMP now investigating a fatal hit and run from Thursday, May 1st. Central Alberta Online

RCMP have released a photo of the suspect vehicle.

Police are releasing a photo of a vehicle of interest in the investigation and ask asking for public assistance in locating the vehicle.

On Thursday, May 1, 2025, at around 11:30 p.m., Wetaskiwin RCMP were dispatched to a report of a fatal pedestrian hit and run on Highway 13.  As a result of the investigation, a portion of the highway remained closed for several hours. The investigation is ongoing with the assistance of the K-Division Collision Analyst team and the Wetaskiwin General Investigation Unit.

The remains of the deceased were transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Edmonton. The deceased was confirmed to be a 50-year-old female from the Montana First Nation. 

At this time, RCMP are seeking to speak with anyone who travelled on Highway 13, West of the Wetaskiwin city limits on May 1, 2025, between the hours of 10:45 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., more specifically anyone who witnessed a pedestrian on the roadway in that location or who may have dashcam footage recorded during this time period.
