The 2025 racing season at the Estevan Motor Speedway got underway Saturday night, with a strong contingent of Weyburn-based drivers taking part in the festivities.  

In the Slingshots races, Sophie, Jase, and Jake Skjerdal ran the first heat, finishing in fourth, fifth, and sixth, respectively. Dane Skjerdal was in the second heat and finished fourth. All four then took part in the Feature race, with Jase finishing fourth, Dane sixth, Sophie ninth, and Jake 11th.  

Weyburn’s Mike Hudson raced in the IMCA Northern Sportmod, driving the Country 106.7 car. He finished sixth in his heat. In the Feature race, he would come in 17th. Quentin and Brent Skjerdal also raced in the IMCA Northern Sportmod. Quentin finished first in his heat and placed 10th in the Feature. Brent was fourth in his heat and 12th in the Feature race.  

In the IMCA Hobby Stock, Dustin Skjerdal placed sixth in his heat, and Jagger Ashworth eighth. Beth Ann Goudy of Stoughton was eighth in her heat. In the Feature race, Dustin Skjerdal finished 9th, and Goudy finished behind him in 10th.  

Gary Goudy Jr. and Gary Goudy Sr. of Stoughton both raced in the IMCA Stock Car classification, as did Weyburn’s Rod Pickering. Goudy Sr. finished 7th in his heat, and Goudy Jr. finished 6th in his, with Picking finishing 7th. In the Feature, Goudy Jr. was 12th, and Goudy Sr. was 15th. Pickering did not finish the race.  

The next races at the Estevan Motor Speedway are scheduled for May 17th.
