An investigation is now underway to determine the cause of a structure fire that destroyed a multi- family home on the 46 Street block of 39 Avenue in Ponoka.

Ponoka County Fire Services was called after 6 p.m. Tuesday to respond to the blaze, arriving within 10 minutes. Lacombe Fire was also dispatched to help put out the fire.

There are no injuries reported, and the cause is unknown until the investigation is complete.

Ponoka County Fire Services says its thoughts are with all those who lost their homes last night.

“As a fire department, it's always heartbreaking when this happens, but in the next breath, we're there for the community and appreciate the community support to those families,” said Donna Noble, the director of emergency management in Ponoka County.

Donation boxes are available to help support the families at the Shoppers Drug Mart.

“We have boxes set up with each unit having their family name and their clothing sizes for all the ages of the kids and the parents,” said Jennifer Wigston, the store manager.
