Lacombe Days is set to return from July 11 to 13, and organizers are calling on volunteers to help make the popular community festival a success.
According to festival coordinator Jess Zylstra, the number of volunteers needed for the event can range from 30 to 100 people, each having different roles.
“We have volunteers for our info booths ...doing security, sometimes bartending for beer and wings ... taking admission for events or setting up and taking down events,” said Zylstra.
The entire Lacombe Days board is made up of volunteers, who help with the planning and implementation of the July weekend festivities. Zylstra describes them as busy little bees the whole weekend.
“It's quite a time commitment for them, so I very much appreciate that they take the time to plan this for the city,” she expressed.
The popular Lacombe Days parade already has 20 participants registered with more expected to join the free community outreach opportunity.
“You're going to have 10,000 sets of eyes on you and you can go as big and or small as you want with your decorations,” commented Zylstra on the July 12 event.
While the outdoor concert won’t take place this year, attendees can look forward to more than 40 events including the return of the ever-popular beer and wings.
Children can expect a bigger play space this year with the Kids Koral expected to double in size with the addition of extra bouncy castles, NERF activities and some other surprises.
New attractions include a large pet event on Sunday, along with additional programming that day in response to public demand.
