The summer sizzler parade will soon be back in Humboldt, and this year it's bringing the magic of Disney. It should be a celebration the whole community won’t want to miss.
Humboldt Downtown Business Improvement District (BID) will be overseeing the event. This will come after they organize the Santa Claus Parade during the Moonlight Madness.
BID Chairperson Alyssa Hergott is excited about running the anticipated summer events in Humboldt.
“I personally put in a float every year, so it’s going to be fun of the organizing side of the parade.”
The theme for this year’s parade will be “Disney Magic.” Hergott notes with a Disney theme, there are many potential float possibilities that are affiliated with the wonderful world of Disney.
Residents can camp out at their usual spot for the parade as it will be following the usual route. Floats will travel north on Main Street before heading west on 11th avenue. The floats will then head south on 16th Street.
45 minutes before the parade begins, the judging will take place for the participating floats. Hergott says they will be likely be handing out three or four awards, and each winning entry will receive a plaque to commemorate the occasion.
With the parade held in conjunction with the Summer Sizzler and this year the Living Skies Music Festival, Hergott is hopeful residents can avoid the temptation of heading out to the lakes for one weekend to enjoy a fun weekend in Humboldt.
“Hopefully there’s a good turnout, I know a lot of people like to leave to the lake that weekend but maybe this will be something where people might stick around one more weekend to participate in events going on in town and hopefully support our local businesses.”
To register your entry for the parade, you can head visit the Downtown BID’s website here, you can send a message to their Facebook page, or you can email them humboldtdowntownbid@gmail.com.
